REPORT CARDS GOING HOME THIS DAY.

Thursday, Dec. 20- Thrilling Thursday. Activities in the afternoon for all the grade six students.

Friday, Dec. 21- Classroom party in the afternoon. Students to bring snacks that do not contains peanuts.  Locker and desk clean as well on this day.

Monday, Dec. 24- Winter Break begins!  We come back to school on Monday, Jan. 7th.  

Wishing everyone the best for the holidays and a very merry new year!  Thank you parents for your great support this term!  I am proud of these kids. They worked very hard on projects and daily assignments!

Friday, Nov. 30- Course Completion Day. Students are dismissed at 11:35.

Families could you please check in with your son/daughter about their Science assignments. Some students have Science work they need to complete.

Also, we are looking for the swimming forms to come back to school signed and payments to be made on-line.

Welcome to Division 3 Grade 6 Team Blizzard for 2018-19

Welcome to Mr.S' website for his Grade 6 class.
Please check this site on a regular basis as well as your child's agenda regarding important information.

Language Arts
Students have started on their novel study booklet. I am reading "An Elephant in the Garden" to them.  Students are also responsible for a project on Elephants, Germany or World War II.  The project is due at the end of October.

Math
We are starting a unit on Whole Numbers in Math. Our first quiz will be sometime next week. Please check the site in the future for details.

Physical Education
We have started a unit on Soccer with Mr. Tran's class.  Students will have a Healthy Choices project to start sometime next week. Details to follow.

Important Information for Divison 3 starting May 1st.

Math
-Students will have a quiz on Geometry this Wednesday, May 2nd. This will conclude our work with Geometry and our next unit will be on Number Patterns.

Language Arts
-Students are working on a Novel Study booklet for the novel, "Flipped".  I will start assigning homework for this booklet more often in the near future so that we can finish this book before report card time.  

Physical Education
-Students are working on Floor Hockey skills with Mr. Tran's class.

Please ensure that your child is prepared and ready to present their project when it is their day.

French
-Students have been assigned to create a French Restaurant Menu. This project is due on May, 30th.
Students will be responsible for orally presenting a few words from their project in French.

Important Information for Div. 3 for the week of  April 4-6

Language Arts
Student will continue to work on personal writing on a weekly basis. We will look at persuasive writing in the near future. More information about this in next week's blog. Students have completed the Breadwinner and we will start another novel called Flipped next Monday.

Math
Students will be working on Geometry for the next few weeks. A quiz on Angles will take place next Thursday, April 12th.


Healthy Choices
Students will start their third project in this area.  Please check in the your child about this project as part of it requires making a smoothie or herbal tea and sharing it with the class. This assignment will be due by the middle of May Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about this project



Physical Education
Student continue to work on their badminton skills. There will be a badminton skill work test later this month. Details about this in a later blog entry.

Breadwinner Novel Study-I will be checking student's booklets closer to the end of this month. Important work for this booklet includes board questions, booklet activities and a diorama.

Healthy Choices Part 2 project is well under way and students are expected to complete this project before the end of February.

Important dates and announcements for the week of Jan. 15

Language Arts

Students have begun their work on "The Breadwinner".  Students have started on their booklet work that includes board work questions and other comprehension activities.

Students will be making a shoe box diorama for this Novel.  Students should be using their own supplies and starting this shoe box very soon.

Students will also be working on a skit for the novel in class.

Math
Students completed an important quiz on Perimeter and Area last week. I will hand back their quizzes this Friday. 

Our next unit will be on Decimals. This unit will start next week.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Here are some important announcements and dates for the month of January for Division 3.

Math
We are re-visiting Perimeter and we will be ready for a quiz this Friday, Jan. 12th.

Language Arts
Students have until tomorrow to finish Punctuation Passport.  We are starting a new novel on Wednesday, Jan. 10. The novel is "The Breadwinner".

P.E.
Gymnastic routines will be assessed this Tuesday and Thursday, Jan.9 and Jan.11.

Students are to check in the their Social Studies and Science teachers if there is any work that needs to get done in the very near future.

STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING BACK THEIR REPORT CARD FOLDERS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
