Welcome Students and Families to Division 3

Thank you for checking out my blog. This blog will act as the most effective electronic way for your teacher to communicate with families and students. Please check this blog weekly (or more )for updates, announcements and important dates.

Newsletter
I will be sending out a newsletter in the next few days (or by Meet the Teacher Night) that goes over routines, expectations and important information in regards to Division 3. This newsletter will be sent out in paper form.

Things that are happening right now!

Language Arts
We have started reading a novel called, "An Elephant in the Garden" by Micheal Morpurgo. . I am reading this book to the class so students do not have their own copy. Please check your public library if you are seeking a copy of this book. Our library might have one copy of this book.
Having your own copy is completely optional. 

Language Arts Project
Students will soon be starting a project for their novel study. They will choose between a project on Elephants, World War 2 or the country of Germany. Criteria and timelines will be sent out in the very near future with each student. 

Healthy Choices
As part of your Physical Education and Health studies, students will be working on a project that looking at healthy foods along with the benefits of vitamins, mineral and regular exercise. This project can be done in partners. We have just started this project so check in with your child about this. Students have a criteria/timeline sheet/list for this project. 

Math
Students have started a unit on Whole Numbers and we are using our Math Makes Sense 6 textbook as our primary resource. Please check the blog for upcoming quiz dates for Math. 

Science and Social Studies
Your child's Science teacher is Mrs. Psaila and Mrs. Sargent will teach Social Studies to Division 3. Please check with those teacher if you have any specific questions about those subject areas. 

Important Dates
Tuesday, September 17- Meet the teacher night at the school at 7pm. Looking forward to meeting with families on that evening. 

Wednesday, September 18- Student Photo Day

Monday, September 23- Pro-d day no school.

Monday, September 30- Orange Shirt day.
